24 coaches at institutions in Hamilton County earned $84,249 on average in 2022

Hamilton County’s 24 coaches earned an average salary of $84,249 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the eighth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Tennessee post-secondary schools during 2022.

Hamilton County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $109,976.

Male coaches of men's teams received $123,188 on average in Hamilton County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $72,302.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
